Owen Sound Flight Services
Owen Sound Flight Services is a Transport Canada registered Flight Training Unit, as well as an accredited Ontario Career College. They are Located at the Meaford Airport (formerly Owen Sound Airport until renamed in September 2024 after being sold by the City of Owen Sound).
OSFS has been training pilots since the airport was originally built in 1993, when Dan Vachon started the school in his name; Vachon Aviation. In 1996 Dan taught his nephew Dave Kalistchuk to fly when he was 14, nearly a decade later they rebranded the school in 2004 operating it together as Owen Sound Flight Services.
Now Dave Kalistchuk is the Chief Flight Instructor and continues to operate the school in the original image created over 30 years ago; a friendly and fun place to learn to fly surrounded by the beauty of Lake Huron, Georgian Bay and the Bruce Peninsula.
OSFS offers customers flight training for basic an advanced licences and ratings, as well as sightseeing tours and charter flights for the general public. A passionate and experienced crew of flight instructors makes the learning experience enjoyable and accessible by anyone!
Flight Training Rates
OSFS offers competitive rates to learn to fly. The OSFS website always holds the current rates for Aircraft Rental, Flight Instruction and their Flight Simulator (A Level 2 Flight Training Device).

Partnership with Canadian Flight Trainers
Owen Sound Flight Services and Canadian Flight Trainers (CFT) are proud to announce a partnership where Canadian Flight Trainers will be the exclusive ground school supplier offering both Private and Commercial courses to students with Owen Sound Flight Services.
For students who cannot make an in person ground school for their pilot training or for students who wish to dive deeper into aviation theory, they are able to do so from the comfort of their own home. With this partnership, flight instructors at Owen Sound Flight Services can also log in and see a top down view of where the enrolled students are so they can further monitor and motivate them during their pilot training goals.
Students will also have the opportunity to study for their Radio Operator’s Certificate – Aeronautical while also studying for their private pilot ground school. This allows them to hit the ground running once they begin their high quality flight training at Owen Sound Flight Services.
