Frequently Asked Questions

How long does online ground school take?

As long as you need. Some students finish in a month; others take a year around work and family. Choose the plan that fits: $199 every 4 months for fast finishers, $299 once for 9 months, or $399 once for 12 months — each with a 7-day free trial. Extensions are available for a small fee. Note the 4-month option is a recurring subscription that continues until cancelled.

How do I prepare for the PPAER exam?

Every lesson ends with assessment tasks aligned to Transport Canada’s objectives, and the course finishes with sample exams built on feedback from students who have written the real thing. Nothing should surprise you on exam day.

What is a letter of recommendation, and can I get one from you?

To write the PPAER, Transport Canada requires a letter of recommendation from a flight instructor. Many students get it from their primary flight instructor — but if you pass our practice exams with the required grade, we can issue it directly.

Do I need an aviation medical first?

Is the ground school free?

    Honestly making the quizes for each topic harder might be good. I found that everything was a breeze with simple questions then I get to the final exams and the questions felt COMPLETELY different, I’m not sure if this is by design but thats just what I noticed.

    I found weather very difficult. Some of the material on frontal systems and such might need revision to try to reduce complexity as I found it hard to understand (to be fair – it’s a complex topic). All other sections were very well presented.

    I think the course was extremely well delivered! My only suggestion would be to update some of the videos. Some videos have errors in them. To correct them a little pop out appears at the top right corner of the screen for a few seconds. If you miss it there isn’t much you can do. Again really well done!

I think it would be very beneficial if there was a study guide for the PPAER exam with things to remember. I made one for myself and found it very usefull to have all the distances and altitutudes wirtten down, as throughout the groundschool there are lots of important numbers that you need to remember and some of them are really random so it would be nice to have them all in one place.
