PSTAR Course (Pre-Solo Aviation Regulations) – Prep for a 90% Pass
The PSTAR exam (Student Pilot Permit / Aviation Regulations exam) is one of the first written tests you’ll face in Canadian flight training — and the pass standard is high.
This PSTAR course is designed to help student pilots pass confidently with a structured approach: short lessons, clear explanations, and practice exams that mirror how the real test feels.
Included in our Private Pilot Ground School (PPL) — so you don’t need to buy a separate PSTAR program.
What you’ll learn (the high-yield PSTAR topics):
- Collision avoidance and right-of-way basics
- Visual signals and aerodrome signage/markings
- Communications and radio procedures for VFR operations
- Airspace basics, controlled vs uncontrolled procedures
- Pilot responsibilities, flight planning essentials, NOTAM awareness
How this PSTAR course is built (instructor approach)
If you “just memorize answers,” you’ll pass — but you’ll struggle later in training. The better approach is:
- Understand the rule
- Recognize the question style
- Practice until you can score 90%+ consistently
That’s exactly how this course is structured: learn → reinforce → practice.
Practice exams that feel like the real thing
Transport Canada’s PSTAR study and reference guide (TP 11919) is organized into multiple sections with a large pool of questions.
This course trains you to handle the question styles and topics that repeatedly show up in flight training.
