Aerodrome Traffic Frequency (ATF)
The ATF is the designated common traffic advisory frequency at aerodromes not served by a control tower or Mandatory Frequency (MF) service. ATF aerodromes are identified in the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS) and on VFR charts.
Purpose
The ATF system allows pilots operating at uncontrolled aerodromes to communicate their position and intentions to other traffic in the area, improving situational awareness in the absence of ATC. It replaced the older UNICOM system at many Canadian aerodromes.
