Automated Data Interchange System
An Automated Data Interchange System (ADIS) automatically exchanges aviation data — flight plans, weather information, NOTAMs, and ATC messages — between facilities using standardized digital protocols. It is the infrastructure behind modern ATC data sharing and eliminates manual re-entry of flight data at sector boundaries.
Function
When a flight plan is filed, ADIS automatically distributes it to all ATC sectors that will handle the flight, updates it as the flight progresses, and supports coordination messages between adjacent units. It also enables ATIS auto-updates and weather data distribution.
