Calgary Flying Club — Online Ground School

In partnership with the Calgary Flying Club, Canadian Flight Trainers delivers CFC’s ground school online: study from home, on your schedule, while your flight training happens at the club. The courses are Transport Canada compliant and taught by an active airline captain who is also a Class 1 Flight Instructor and former Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor — the same instruction behind our PPL and CPL Ground School programs.

Why enrol through this page instead of the regular course?

Because your Calgary Flying Club instructors get visibility into your ground school progress before and during your flight training. That means your instructor walks into every flight knowing what you’ve covered, can tie air exercises to the theory you just studied, and can spot weak areas early — with zero extra effort from you. Ground school and flight training stop being two separate projects.

Which access length should I choose?

The ground school is self-paced; the options differ only in how long you have access. Full-time students typically choose 4 months; most part-time students choose 9 or 12 months so the material is still available for review through flight training and before the Transport Canada written. The Zero to Commercial enrolment covers the full path from first lesson to CPL. If your access runs out before you’re done, the Ground School Extension continues your access month to month.

How much does flight school cost in Calgary?

A typical student completing a private pilot licence in Calgary spends $18,000 to $24,000 on training all-in. Ground school is one of the few places you control that number: arriving at each flight already knowing the theory means fewer repeated lessons — and at Calgary aircraft rental rates, one saved flight hour covers a large share of this course.
