Transcribed Weather Broadcast (TWB)
A Transcribed Weather Broadcast (TWB) is a continuous automated broadcast of meteorological information provided by NAV CANADA on specific frequencies. TWBs transmit METARs, TAFs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, and other weather information over VHF or HF frequencies for en route pilots.
TWB vs. ATIS
ATIS is a continuous recording of weather and information for a specific airport. A TWB covers a broader geographic area — a region or route — providing en route weather information from multiple stations. Pilots can receive TWB to get current weather at distant aerodromes and potential alternates while in flight.
