Durham Flight Centre currently operates with a student waitlist — and priority goes to students who show up ready to fly. Complete your ground school here, earn your ROC-A, and obtain your Transport Canada medical, and you move up the DFC waitlist. Everything on that list is something you can start today, from home, before you’ve flown a single lesson — and the ROC-A course is already included in this enrolment.

The ground school itself is delivered in partnership with the Durham Flight Centre by Canadian Flight Trainers: Transport Canada compliant PPL and CPL programs taught by an active airline captain, Class 1 Flight Instructor, and former Class 1 Aerobatics Instructor. Your DFC instructors get visibility into your course progress before and during flight training, so every air lesson builds on theory they know you’ve covered — and weak areas get caught early instead of on a flight test.

Which access length should I choose?

Private pilot students: choose 12 months. With the waitlist, that window covers studying before your training starts, through your flight training, and into exam preparation — aim to finish the included ground school examinations toward the middle-to-end of your flight training for the best results on the Transport Canada written. Commercial students: full-time students should take the 4-month option; everyone else the 9-month, and you can switch from 4 to 9 months on request. If your access runs out before you’re finished, the Ground School Extension continues month to month at $34.95 until you cancel — available only to students already enrolled with us.

How much does flight school cost in Toronto and Oshawa?

A typical student completing a private pilot licence in the Toronto–Oshawa area spends $18,000 to $24,000 all-in. Ground school is one of the few line items you control: arriving at each flight already knowing the theory means fewer repeated lessons, and at GTA rental rates one saved flight hour covers a large share of this course.
