Advisory Service
An advisory service is a service provided by an ATC unit or flight service station to give pilots information useful for the safe and efficient conduct of their flights. It is not an ATC clearance and does not impose the same obligations as instructions given within controlled airspace.
Types of Advisory Service
- Flight Information Service (FIS): Provided by FIC or FSS; includes weather, NOTAMs, and other operationally relevant information
- Traffic Information Service: Notification of known traffic that may affect the pilot’s route
- Aerodrome Advisory Service: Provided at aerodromes with FSS; includes surface conditions, active runway, and known circuit traffic
