Low Approach

A low approach is an approach made over the runway without landing, followed by a go-around or touch-and-go. It is used for pilot currency, instrument approach practice, or to check runway condition before committing to a full-stop landing.

ATC Coordination

At a controlled airport, advise the tower that you want a low approach. The tower will issue appropriate instructions for the go-around. At an uncontrolled airport, broadcast your intentions clearly so that other traffic in the circuit is aware you will not be landing on the first pass.
