Uncontrolled Aerodrome/Airport
An uncontrolled aerodrome (or uncontrolled airport) is an aerodrome at which no control tower is in operation. All aircraft operations are self-managed by pilots using standard procedures, mandatory radio calls on ATF or MF, and see-and-avoid separation. There is no ATC service at an uncontrolled aerodrome.
Operating at an Uncontrolled Aerodrome
- Monitor the ATF or MF at least 5 miles from the aerodrome
- Broadcast position and intentions when joining, in the circuit, and on each leg
- Fly standard circuit procedures (left-hand unless otherwise published)
- Scan for traffic continuously — no ATC traffic information is provided
- Review CFS for any published procedures, preferred runways, or noise abatement
